Pierluca de Carlo

Pierluca De Carlo’s European background, combined with his passion for cinema, lends a unique look to his films. Born in Italy, Luca studied at Milan’s European Institute for Design before moving to Los Angeles in 1986. It was in LA that he began working as a production designer with Mark Romanek and later Herb Ritts.
His close collaboration with Herb gained Luca an MTV award for best art direction and marked the beginning of his directorial career with Ritts/Hayden where he shot music videos for artists including Geri Halliwell, Julio Iglesias and John Mellencamp.
After signing with Ritts/Hayden, De Carlo and Joe Masi started Naked Project, now renamed Identity. With Identity, Pierluca has produced standout work for clients such as the New York Times, Chrysler, Cadillac and beauty clients, Christian Lacroix, Comme des Garcon, Nivea, Yves Rocher, Pantene and L’Oreal.
His work lately has included such celebrities as Penelope Cruz, Natalie Portman, Beyonce, Evan Longoria and Diane Keaton.
